Program
"Bach in Blù" is an ambitious musical project between two worlds, classical and jazz, who joins forces questioning the borders between the two genres and focuses on highlighting the many essential similarities between the two forms of expression. Based on the idea of Niklas Walentin, the ensemble which consist of three of the finest names on the scandinavian jazz scene, have together developed the worlds first arrangements of the monumental works by J. S. Bach for jazz quartet. Niklas Walentin & the Snorre Kirk Trio have worked together since 2023, where music by danish jazz star Svend Asmussen brought them together to record the critically acclaimed album “Another June Night, praised by BBC 3 as “A loveletter through and through - their playing is immaculate”. Their shared passion and dedication for working with the music my J. S. Bach however showed from the beginning and the concept of "Bach in Blù" was formed. After years of developing the material, the first arrangements based on the two major works, Sonata No. 1 & Partita No. 1 are now complete and will form the first album recording which is to be the first chapter of the long trilogi of working with the music by Bach. Niklas Walentin & Snorre Kirk Trio offers various program formats where these major completions can be experienced together, or to be mixed with the ensembles signature-arrangements of Danish jazz-melodies and excerpts from their latest album “Another June Night”.
